Gina Strumwasser, Professor of Art History at California State University Fresno, specializes in the visual arts of Early Modern Europe, Northern and Italian art of the Renaissance and Baroque. She received her doctorate in Art History from UCLA in 1979 and has taught at CSUF for almost four decades. Six of her articles were published in 2009-2010 in the Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception, De Gruyter, Berlin. Most recently, April 2011, she contributed the essays for a catalogue of Fresno artists titled CCAC Public Art Project. In January 2012, Cognella Press published Professor Strumwasser’s text, Politically Incorrect: Women Artists and Female Imagery in Early Modern Europe.The recipient of two NEH grants to study at Berkeley and Cornell, she has been additionally honored at the 1998 Faculty Convocation and received awards for Meritorious Teaching, Performance and Professional Promise and the University Priorities Fund. Professor Strumwasser sustains a fascination with Italian travel and has led tours to Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan as well as London and Egypt.
