William “Bill” Smittcamp (1975) has been selected as the winner of the 2017 Leon S. Peters’ Award by the Fresno Chamber of Commerce. He owns and operates Wawona Frozen Foods in Clovis, California. Smittcamp received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Fresno State Alumni Association in 2014.
 
Anne Thurston (1945) has published A Late Date: Finding Love in Cyberspace. It focuses on her generation exploring the two frontiers of today: longevity and cyberspace.
 
Bob Kampf (1979, '88), has received Fresno County Office of Education’s 2016 Administrator of the Year Award. He is the director of supplemental services for Clovis Unified School District.
 
Phillip V. Sanchez (1957, '72) has been honored with the multipurpose room at Pinedale Elementary School being named after him, where he attended school as a child in Fresno. He has served the U.S. as the ambassador to both Honduras and Colombia. Ambassador Sanchez was presented the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Fresno State Alumni Association in 1997.
 
Nick Davis (2016) and Ally Zulewski (2016) a Bulldog Pride Fund alumna, were recently married. Congratulations!
 
Jeff Tedford (1983) has been hired as Fresno State's head football coach. As a student, he was the quarterback for the Bulldogs in the 1981 and 1982 seasons; and coached for the Bulldogs from 1992 to 1997. He was presented a Top Dog Alumnus Award from the Fresno State Alumni Association on behalf of the College of Health and Human Services in 2003.
 
Lee Brand (1973) has been elected mayor of the city of Fresno and will take office in January of 2017. He was formerly a City Council member for District 6 for two terms.
 
Amy Shuklian (1987) was featured in the executive profile in “The Business Journal.” She has served as a councilmember for the city of Visalia and is the supervisor-elect for Tulare County.
 
Carlo Prandini, Jr. (1974, '76 ) has retired from a 36-year career with Clovis Unified School District. He has mentored thousands of students as well as impacted the leadership philosophy of many of the district’s current school and department leaders.
