Armenian Genocide Monument
President Castro

Boldly Together

President Joseph I. Castro

Thank you to the thousands of you who joined us last night for the unveiling of the Armenian Genocide Monument at Fresno State. It was a historic occasion for Central Valley Armenians, as we dedicated the memorial to victims and survivors.

Fresno State reflects the significant Valley Armenian population with one of the most highly visible and strongest Armenian Studies Program in the nation.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the genocide that killed 1.5 million Armenians, and it's appropriate that Fresno State house such a monument, for its goal is at the very heart of education.

We teach history, so that we do not forget the mistakes of the past, and this monument will help us never forget the inhumanity committed a century ago.
