John D. Welty Center for Educational Policy and Leadership
Established in 2002 under the leadership of President Welty, the “Central Valley Educational Leadership Institute” (CVELI) seeks to elevate educational leadership and eliminate the achievement gap for students in the Central Valley.
The institute works with nationally-recognized educational leaders to develop policies and training that help realize the American dream for all children.
The vision is to build upon the success of CVELI by establishing a permanent funding source and rename the institute in honor of President Welty.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Welty championed the role of higher education as a catalyst for educational and economic growth. The establishment of The Welty Center will sustain President Welty’s passion for improving the educational and economic condition of the Central Valley.
