Campaign Highlights

The Campaign for Fresno State is the largest fundraising effort since the university’s founding in 1911. With a $200 million goal, the campaign will help students and faculty explore new concepts, designs and plans that directly affect our world. 

Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, $29.4 million

The Jordan College of Agriculture Sciences and Technology is named in honor of the Jordan Family of California’s East Bay region after $29.4 million was donated on their behalf to support expanded research and improved facilities.

Lyles College of Engineering, $10 million

William Lyles, his family and their companies committed a $10 million gift in 2008. The university agreed to seek an additional $10 million in support for the College of Engineering in the coming years.

Table Mountain Rancheria Tower at the Henry Madden Library, $10 million

This gift enhanced renovations at the expanded Henry Madden Library that transformed the library into an architectural landmark with design elements reflecting the region’s Native American heritage.

Beck Scholarships, Student Affairs, $6 million

A $6 million dollar gift from an anonymous donor established the Hans L. and Anna Beck Endowed Scholarship Fund, to provide full scholarships to international students as well as other students.

Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning, $3.5 million

Jan and Bud Richter pledged $3.5 million to establish the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning. They based their generous donation on the belief that the center will, in Mr. Richter's words, "instill in students a life-long character trait of giving to the community."

Bronco Wine Chairs, Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, $2 million

The Bronco Wine Company has funded two chairs in the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at $1 million each. They are the Bronco Wine Company Viticulture Research Chair and the Bronco Wine Company Chair in Viticulture - Grape Production.

Joyce Mae Gibson Gift, Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, $2 million

Joyce Mae Gibson’s $2 million gift in 2008 helped fund improvements to the Fresno State Farm Market and establish the Rue and Gwen Gibson Endowment for Equine Studies. The Fresno State Farm Market was renamed in honor of her parents, Rue and Gwen Gibson.

Husband-Boeing Honors Scholars Program in Engineering, Lyles College of Engineering, $2 million

The Boeing Company committed $2 million to endow the Husband-Boeing Honors Scholars Program in Engineering at Fresno State.

Sports Medicine Center, Athletics, $2 million

A $2 million commitment from the Meyers Farms Family Trust will serve as the lead gift for the design and construction of a state-of-the-art Sports Medicine Center to serve Bulldog student-athletes.

Robert Duncan Nicol Endowed Chair in the Silent Garden, $2 million

Robert Duncan Nicol pledged $2 million to the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Studies in the College of Health and Human Services. The endowment will bring experts from across the nation to teach at Fresno State and provide outreach with the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Arnold and Dianne Gazarian Real Estate Center, Craig School of Business, $1.5 million

Center will educate real estate professionals, provide real-world research and bring the university and real estate community together to discuss land-use and development issues.

Harvey Scholarship, Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, $1.5 million

The estates of John and Cora Harvey provided $1.595 million for graduate student scholarships.

Rodger and Margaret Jensen Scholarship Endowment, Jordan College of Agriculture, $1.5 million

This gift will provide full scholarships to students of the Jordan College of Agriculture and Technology majoring in Agricultural Business or Plant Science. The endowment will fund seven scholarships each year in perpetuity.

Joseph S. Slotnick Distinguished Professorship in the Silent Garden, $1.5 million

Joseph S. Slotnick pledged $1.5 million to the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Studies in the College of Health and Human Services. The endowment will bring experts from across the nation to teach at Fresno State and provide outreach with the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Brown Liberal Arts Scholarship, College of Arts and Humanities - $1 million

Edward and Alberta Brown left an estate gift to the College of Arts and Humanities to support scholarships for those majoring in liberal arts.

Center for Creativity and the Arts, College of Arts and Humanities, $1 million

A $1 million gift from an anonymous donor created the John and Madeline Perenchio Arts Exhibition Endowment, and the Andrew and Dorothea Perenchio Museum Studies Internship Endowment.

Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino, Athletics, $1.2 million
Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Athletics, $1 million

Each of these gifts is for the Athletics Fund for Excellence, supporting the operating budget for the department of athletics. 

Chukchansi Language Preservation and Revitalization, College of Arts and Humanities, $1 million

The Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians pledged $1 million in support of programs and research to document, preserve and revitalize the Chukchansi variety of the Yokuts language.

Col. Edwin Cook nursing scholarships, College of Health and Human Services, $1 million

The College of Health and Human Services received $1.028 million in 2010 from the estate of alumnus and retired Air Force Col. Edwin Cook to provide scholarships for nursing students. 

Gamble Gift for Linguistics, College of Arts and Humanities, $1 million

Recently retired Montana State University President and Fresno State alumnus Dr. Geoffrey Gamble and his wife Patricia made a $1 million bequest to enhance Fresno State’s linguistics program through two endowments.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, $1 million

The Bernard Osher Foundation awarded the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Fresno State a $1 million endowment in 2010.

Smittcamp Honors Program, $1 million

A gift from the Smittcamp Family Foundation provided an endowment for scholarships in the Smittcamp Honors Program.
