Creativity And Innovation For Effectiveness (CAIFE)

CAIFE engages faculty, staff and administrators in the process of institutional transformation in order to harness and embrace a lasting culture of innovation and creativity. The program blends individual development with focused efforts to enhance organizational effectiveness. These efforts combined in one professional development program encompasses innovation, transformational change and continuous improvement. 

Twelve collaborative teams participated in the pilot year of CAIFE in 2014/15. The teams included representation from faculty, staff and  administration. Participants attended a series of professional development workshops focused on process improvement, innovation and change management and were charged with assessing and planning campus wide initiatives selected from the Bold Ideas Challenge.

President Castro called for more Bold Ideas in January 2016, 2018 and 2020.  

9 CAIFE teams worked throughout 2016/17 and 10 teams in 2018/19 to evaluate and implement the ideas that they were presented. Team members participated in professional development programs focused on continuous improvement, innovation and navigating and leading change.

The 4th Bold Ideas Challenge was launched in January 2020. 72 CAIFE alumni (faculty, staff and students) reviewed the ideas and Cabinet will selected six winners. CAIFE 4.0 teams will begin project work in October 2020.
