Faculty and Staff Mentoring Programs

Mentor and protege discuss successes and challenges

As part of our commitment to leadership development for both academic and administrative personnel, Fresno State will launch two mentor programs in 2015-16. The offices of Faculty Affairs and Organizational Excellence are collaborating with Dr. Kenneth Magdaleno from the Mentoring Center to coordinate these programs.

Both programs are designed to provide mentoring, coaching, encouragement, leadership and professional career development for Fresno State aspiring leaders.

The faculty mentor program will pair seasoned campus academic leaders with faculty. The faculty program is open to faculty at any level from any school or college at Fresno State who are interested in serving in a leadership role on campus or in the community. This is a new program and will run concurrently with mentor programs that exist in many of our schools and colleges.

This is a new program and will run in concurrence with other faculty mentor programs that are connected to individual schools and colleges.

The staff mentor program will pair campus administrators with staff from across the university. This is the fourth year of the staff mentor program and will build upon successes and learnings from years 1, 2 and 3.

Both programs will begin in September 2015 and conclude in May 2017. Participants in both programs will attend the annual mentorship summit on October 23, 2015, monthly luncheons with guest speakers and training sessions to enhance knowledge about best practices in building a successful mentoring relationship.

Applications for the next cohort will be available Fall 2017.
