Most people come to Employee Assistance on their own. At times family members, co-workers, union stewards, or managers/supervisors/department chairpersons may encourage you to use this resource.
Supervisors are encouraged to recommend the Employee Assistance office as a resource for employees whenever they are concerned about ongoing performance problems. However, the program is voluntary and confidential so the Employee Assistance Professional will not disclose any information to the supervisor unless the client signs a written release.
