Pre-Tax Savings Plans

Retirement is the time in your life when you can put yourself first and do the things you have always wanted to do. The California State University offers three voluntary tax deferred plans to help you achieve your retirement goals. These plans have no employer contributions. We offer a variety of investment options through automatic payroll deduction to three kinds of voluntary tax deferred plans:

  1. Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) 403(b)

The California State University (CSU) previously announced it is making important changes to the Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) Program effective April 1, 2016. These changes are designed to improve efficiencies and savings for participants. All five current plans (MetLife, Fidelity, VALIC, TIAA-CREF and VOYA) will no longer be available for pre-tax deductions. The sole record-keeper will be Fidelity investments effective April 1, 2016.

  2. Thrift Plan 401(k) through the Savings Plus Program
  3. Deferred Compensation 457 through the Savings Plus Program
