Facilities Management

Key and Access Control

Key Control supports a regulated system of access to provide security for University facilities, assets, as well as the safety of all those on campus. All campus employees, including student employees, students, and others issued keys, must request access and key issuance through Key Control.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why have you transitioned the key request from OnBase?

Facilities Link is a living, collaborative database that not only connects our facility data with our key and lock data but connects Facilities Management with the campus community. This information generated by the key request will aid in our transparency and accuracy which will lead to a safer and more secure environment.

2. How do I get to the new key request?

Type fresnostate.metabim.com in your browser and click on the red paw print. You may already use this system to submit customer service requests to Facilities Management.

3. What is my username and password?

The username and password you use for all Fresno State applications including email and My Fresno State will work to sign on to Facilities Link.

4. I am having trouble with the single-sign on functionality.

Please reach out to Technology Services to assist you with any Duo Authentication (Single-Sign on) issues. 278.5000 or their website

5. Who will approve the key request?

Like the OnBase key request, the reporting manager for the key holder should receive an email to navigate into the system and approve. Additionally, once you select a “sponsoring department”, this is meant to be the department who is responsible for the space you’re requesting access to. That provides additional approver by the location itself.

6. Where will I go to pick up my key?

You will still pick up your key at the Facilities Management Service Center, which is located here. We are open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the Fall and Spring semesters, and 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM during the Summer.

7. Will the system show every key I have been issued historically?

If your building has recently been rekeyed to the new Medeco keyway, then yes. If you carry the older Schlage keys, then the system may not reflect these historical keys. As we continue to rekey the campus, we hope to have a high accuracy rate with what is carried by our personnel and students.

8. I am having difficulty finding the room I need.

You may also enter the number that is etched into your metal key. If you also do not know the key number, please reach out to the campus lock shop for assistance or indicate details in the “Additional Information” box.

9. I’m having trouble signing up for a Facilities Link account. Do I call Technology Services?

Please contact Facilities Management at 278-2373 and we will be prepared to assist you. If support from Technology Services is needed, we will guide you through that process.

10. Can someone else pick up my key for me?

No, as the responsible key holder, you are the only individual who can sign for your key. Please reach out to Facilities Management at 278.2373 if you have any questions or concerns regarding your visit to our office. We may be able to provide accommodation.

11. Why do I have to make an appointment?

In an effort to minimize large crowds in the Facilities Management Service Center, we ask that you make an appointment as prompted by the email you receive when your key is ready.

12. Do you have documentation to help me through the key request submission?

If you are a submitter, here is a PDF to assist you with screenshots. If you are an approver, here is a PDF to assist you as needed.
