Air Pollution

For information about how Fresno State monitors air quality please visit our FAQs for Air Quality and Fresno State's Air Quality Index Guide.

Air pollution is a concern to all, particularly San Joaquin Valley residents. The University works directly with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) to ensure compliance with all applicable air quality regulations. The campus was awarded a "Low Risk/Low Priority facility" rating based on our efforts to minimize the creation of air pollutants. EH&S and the Departments of Facilities Management and Agricultural Operations work together to continue to reduce campus sources of air pollutants to the lowest feasible level.

Valley air quality forecasts and information can be obtained from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District web site.

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District also has a program called Healthy Air Living to help citizens make day to day decisions that take into consideration their effect on Valley air quality. "Healthy Air Living is a "toolbox" of ideas and strategies that help each of us take voluntary, high-impact measures in our personal lives and workplace to reduce emissions."
