Academic & Student Success through Coaching
CLASE provides a custom and enriched academic and student services experience. Through a “coaching” framework, students are given an opportunity to realize their academic potential and are given the tools to meet their educational goals (Robinson & Gahagan, 2010). Students have an opportunity to engage in our personalized approach during any point of their academic career.
Fundamental to the coaching framework are reflection, planning, goal-setting, and individual support. Coaching provides students with an intentional way to reflect on their interests, academics, and goals, and implement concrete plans, while engaging in a process of integrative learning.
Academic & Professional Skills Development
From a 2011 survey of Fresno State students, students requested additional academic skills and professional development training opportunities to help them achieve their goals. As a result, CLASE staff created specific workshops to support students, these include: Academic Planning, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Financial Literacy, Graduate School, Professional Branding, and Industry Site Visits.
Campus & Community Resources
Students sometimes face a social or environmental culture shock in college. Knowing how to navigate the campus environment, offices, and departments may be difficult for students. A student that commutes or travels from distant places has limited time to be on campus. Transfer students may or may not be aware of what services or resources are available to them. CLASE staff can help you identify and locate appropriate academic, financial, campus, and community resources to support you while enrolled at Fresno State.
