Title V – HSI Program at Fresno State
The Title V – HSI grant in the amount of $3.18 million was awarded to California State University, Fresno to serve Hispanic Students through September 30, 2015.
In fall 2009, the total headcount and percentage for the largest student populations at CSU, Fresno was Hispanic (7,236 or 33.7%) and Caucasian (7,491 or 34.8%). There is an unacceptably large gap between the six-year graduation rates from 2002-2008 between these two groups: Hispanic (41%) and Caucasian (57.2%) ( Source: CSU, Fresno IRAP website )
There are scarce development funds to redesign programs, services and practices in response to the needs of Hispanic students at California State University, Fresno. Therefore, the HSI- Title V program provides funding to support specific initiatives to significantly improve the six-year graduation rates of Hispanic students.
