Welcome To CEO Fresno State Chapter!

CEO Fresno is a student organization at California State University, Fresno. Housed in the prestigious Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, CEO Fresno’s goal is to promote entrepreneurship and the development of student-run enterprises.

We are dedicated to the development and retention of entrepreneurial skills, innovation and culture. We provide members unique hands on experience that goes beyond the classroom and puts them on a path to success. The future of the American economy rests on the shoulders of innovation and entrepreneurship. Our members will be strong enough to carry that heavy burden while creating jobs and stimulating the economy.

Skill Development

 CEO Fresno is dedicated to further developing the skills necessary for todays young entrepreneurs to succeed. Seminars, workshops, guest speakers, field trips and various other projects and events help solidify the fundamentals of running a business. Our members go on to start businesses and stimulate the economy.

Professional Networking

 As a member of CEO you have access to both the current and future leading business men and women of the valley. Our special guest speakers, networking mixers, social and community events and Lyles Center Resources allow our members unique once in a life time networking opportunities. National Conference

Every year, CEO Fresno sends a group of students to the CEO National Conference. The conference brings together thousands of students from across the world to participate in panel discussions, networking sessions, and elevator pitch competitions. The conference features over 80 entrepreneurs and business professionals each year. Many famous professionals have visited the conference.

As a member of CEO Fresno you will have access to the many tools and resources of the prestigious Lyles Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, located on the second floor of the Student Recreation Center. The Lyles Center offers the tools, people, programs, support and advice to help you create a sustainable business of your own.

CEO Fresno is a network of young, talented, like-minded individuals working together to create a better future. Many of our members have gone on to start their own businesses but it’s not a requirement. Maybe you don’t want to start a business right away, no problem, the skills and relationships our members develop have also lead to great internship and job opportunities with companies like Gallo, Bank of America and Pepsi.

Professor Eric Liguori is an entrepreneur, entrepreneurial advocate, and educator on faculty at California State University – Fresno where he teaches Opportunity Assessment and Social Entrepreneurship. Professor Liguori also serves as faculty liaison to Fresno State’s Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization and as a Research Partner to Advance Innovative Education (http://www.advanceie.org/).

Prior to coming to Fresno State, Professor Liguori worked in industry as a Business Analyst in the Florida Small Business Development Center Network, as a Regional HR Consultant for Paychex (a $2 billion a year HR services company), and as a Leadership & Organizational Development Specialist for Eckerd Youth Alternatives (a large national non-profit organization).

Professor Liguori has completed consulting assignments with numerous for-profit, non-profit and governmental organizations. He has counseled hundreds of entrepreneurs and helped launch over 15 new ventures. A veteran to the start-up process, Professor Liguori has a proven track record of “getting things done”, including securing venture financing (SBA loans, micro loans, and grant funding) and 8(a) certification, as well as establishing business resources centers in several redevelopment communities. His past work and successes have been featured by numerous press outlets, including The HeraldNorth River NewsESBDC Connection, and onwww.highbeam.com.

Professor Liguori’s record for scholarship includes over 15 peer and/or editorially reviewed publications as well as a plethora of conference presentations and published proceedings. His research interests include entrepreneurial self-efficacy, entrepreneurship education, and perceptions of local business climate, though he often does work in other related areas.

About The National Conference

The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization SM (CEO), on over 230 university campuses across North America, provides young entrepreneurs with networking opportunities, chapter activities, and the national conference to help them start their own businesses. The mission of CEO is to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation. The conference speakers help solidify entrepreneurship into the fabric of universities nationally.

The National Elevator Pitch Competition is the largest national elevator pitch competition, presenting students with a unique opportunity to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges and a chance to win cash prizes. Over 125 applications were received for the 2010 contest with 60 students selected to compete for the grand prize of $2,500.
Elevator pitch is a frequently used term, which literally means “tell me about your business within the time that it would take to ride up an elevator.” Presenting yourself effectively is an essential tool in the business arena. A well-planned elevator pitch can open the doors to success in your future endeavors. Please note that ideas may be at any stage of development from creation of concepts or ideas to an established business.

What can you win? 
The top three winners and four honorable mention winners will win cash prizes and national recognition. NEW this year is the addition of a People’s Choice Award, which will enable the audience to vote on their favorite pitch during the first rounds of the first rounds of the competition, selecting one participant to win a cash prize and be eligible to advance directly to the final round.
