You are an International Student if:

You are not a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident (Green Card)
You hold or intend to hold non-immigrant F-1 or J-1 visa status while you are studying at CSU Fresno.


How to Apply

1. Submit a Cal State Apply online and pay $70 USD (non-refundable) by credit card.


Submit the Paper Application. To avoid errors, please type your information in the fillable form.  Then, pay $70 USD (non-refundable) at by credit card.  Or, it can be paid by check, money order, or bank draft.  Please make it payable to "California State University, Fresno".

2. English language proficiency - Institutional Code: 4312

(also mail in an unofficial score report along with other required documents).

TOEFL – 80 iBT, or

IELTS – 6.5, or 

Pearson’s Test of English - 53, or

iTEP – 4.5

If a graduate applicant has earned a bachelors or master's degree from a college or university in the United States, the TOEFL or other English language proficiency exam is not required.

*CSU Fresno interprets "where English is the principal language of instruction" to mean that a school is located in a country where English is the daily medium of communication for the majority of residents and that students receive academic instruction in English at all levels of education.

3. Original or certified copies of all university transcripts with literal English translation. Any coursework presented after an offer of admission is made will not be considered for credit.

4. Financial document (no older than 6 months) & Affidavit of Support from sponsors showing the amount and source of support for a minimum of one school year of study. For details please review the estimated yearly cost chart.

5. A copy of the biographic information/photo page in your passport.

6. Three Letters of Recommendation (if applicable).

7. Official admission test score report (GRE* or GMAT*) - if applicable. Institution Code: 4312
