The mission of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is to advance University research and support the efforts of faculty, students and staff in fulfilling a wide range of goals. Some key services include:
Locating Funding Sources
- Access to a comprehensive library of information on federal, state and private grant and contract opportunities
- Access to weekly updates on submission deadlines for grant programs
- Access to Internet searches of available federal and private foundation funding programs based upon key words of interest to the investigator
Information Dissemination and Training
- Access to a wide range of grant-writing books, pamphlets and video tapes to provide assistance in grant preparation format, style and content
- Information on available grant writing seminars and formal instruction
- Orientation to campus grants policies and procedures
Proposal and Budget Preparation
- Assistance in developing proposals from conceptualization to submission
- Assistance in budget preparation to ensure that a project is accurately presented and adequately funded
- Assistance in facilitating administrative reviews and required signatures
- Assistance in the submission of the proposal, including providing the necessary copies and mailing of the proposal
Faculty Research Support
- Administering Research Activity Awards (RAA) for faculty projects
- Administering Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities (RSCA) funding
- Providing special assistance for key university projects
- Disseminating faculty research projects through publications
Student Research Support
- Directing the Central California Research Symposium
- Coordinating participation in the CSU Student Research Competition
