Jessie Shields (Geology)
Jessie Shields is in her second semester in the Earth and Environmental Sciences graduate program, but she has already shown an exceptionally high level of scholarship. She has a mature approach to research and has already developed the ability to formulate her own working hypotheses on complex geologic problems. Her understanding of petrology and geochemistry, as well as her petrographic (microscope) skills are exceptional. In addition to her fine scholarship, Jessie has an enthusiasm and dedication that is infectious and her excellence helps raise the level of scholarship among her fellow graduate students.
