Improving Student Experiences
Faculty who participate in each of the first three workshops and attend at least two of the last two workshops listed below will earn a HIPs certification / digital badge and $200 in Professional Development funds.
Service Learning*
Service-learning projects combine coursework with meaningful service activities that
benefit the university and community.
Project-Based Learning*
Project-bases learning is a course assignment where students work for an extended
amount of time investigating a real-world problem within the context of the course
material.
Diversity/Global*
All instructors could incorporate diversity and global issues into their course. This
could include racism and discrimination, inequalities, human rights, social justice,
immigration, displayed people, power and oppression.
Supplemental Instruction

amount of time investigating a real-world problem within the context of the course
material.
Undergraduate Research
Involvement in undergraduate research provides hand-on experience, application of
course content, direct faculty interaction and peer-to-peer collaboration and cooperation.
Internships
Internships give a student the opportunity for hands-on experience in work directly
related to their major.
First-Year Experience
First-year experience programs help students with the jarring transition from high
school to college.
