Portfolios

Portfolios are a wonderful tool for showcasing the variety of knowledge, skills and abilities students used or gained during the service learning experience.  Portfolios can include photos, memos, reports, interviews, journals and any other document which chronologically narrates the student’s experience.  Certain experiences cater more to the portfolio such as student art teachers collecting examples of artwork and the progression of skills.

There are many digital portfolio programs which can facilitate the challenges of organizing this material.  The following website will further your understanding of the use of portfolios.

ePortfolios are a powerful and emerging tool.  More information on the use of ePortfolios at Fresno State can be found by logging into Blackboard and clicking the ePortfolios link at the top of the page.  You can also visit the Digication e-Portfolios website, which is the ePortfolio platform used at Fresno State.
